Reduction of Dietary Sodium and Sugars

Dietary sodium mostly comes from table salt (i.e., sodium chloride) and sodium-containing condiments and sauces in our diet. Often, we use the term "sodium" and "salt" interchangeably.

Salt reduction is a shared responsibility amongst government, trade and consumers. Government and stakeholders are working hand in hand with consultation of the International Advisory Panel to reduce the amount of sodium in foods through:

  1. Product reformulation;
  2. Create enabling environment; and
  3. Consumer education.
