Focus Group Meeting on Nutrition Labelling in Restaurants

The above meeting was held on 22 January 2013 at the office of Communication and Resource Unit to consult members on nutrition labelling in restaurants. A summary of the discussions and CFS's response have been published in the fourth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Focus Group Meeting on Smart Choice: How to be a smart food shopper

The above meeting was held on 25 April 2013 at the Communication Resource Unit (CRU) of Centre for Food Safety (CFS) to explore members' food shopping habits. A summary of the discussions has been published on the fifth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Response
The food shopping habits of member was noted. To promote good food-buying habits of members of the public, the Food Safety Day 2013 was themed on "Make a Wise Food Choice". Talk Series on "Make A Wise Food Choice" has also been conducted from July – September 2013. The contents of the talk are designed to promote, to the general public and the food trade alike, the concept of making a wise food choice, sourcing food or food ingredients from hygienic and reliable shops, and choosing food according to one's health condition.

Focus Group Meeting on Launching of CFS Facebook page

The above meeting was held on 18 July at the CRU of CFS to collect members' views on the "Launching of CFS Facebook page". A summary of the discussions has been published on the fifth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Response
Members' opinion on the launching of CFS Facebook was noted. To facilitate better communication and interaction with the public, the CFS launched its Facebook page on 1 October 2013 as an additional channel to disseminate important information on food safety and health quickly and directly to the public.

Focus Group Meeting on New initiatives of Food Safety Charter: Reduction of fat, salt and sugar in food

The above meeting was held on On 27 September at the CRU of CFS to seek members' views on the "New initiatives of Food Safety Charter: Reduction of fat, salt and sugar in food". After the meeting, CLG members visited Lee Kum Kee's factory in Tai Po Industrial Estate to learn more about the manufacturing process of sauce. A summary of the discussions has been published on the fifth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Members' opinion on the new initiatives of Food Safety Charter: Reduction of fat, salt and sugar in food was well noted. The Centre for Food Safety will take into account of feedbacks from CLG members in the relevant activities in the future.

Focus Group Meeting on Safe and Smart Ways to Cook

The above meeting was held on 10 February 2014 at the Communication Resource Unit (CRU) of Centre for Food Safety (CFS) to explore members' food handling practices and preferences. A summary of the discussions has been published on the sixth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Response
The food handling practices and preferences of member was noted. To promote good food handling practices to members of the public, the Food Safety Day 2014 has themed on " Safe and Smart Ways to Cook". Talk Series on " Safe and Smart Ways to Cook" has also been conducted from July – December 2014. The contents of the talk were focused on (i) Safe and Smart Ways to Cook; (ii) Natural Toxic Substances in Food; and (iii) Reduction of Sodium and Sugars in Foods.

The above meeting was held on 26 June 2014 at the CRU of CFS to collect members' knowledge, attitude and behavior in relation to reduction of sodium and sugars . A summary of the discussions has been published on the sixth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Response
Members' knowledge, attitude and behavior in relation to reduction of sodium and sugars were noted. To promote healthy eating with less salt and sugars to the general public and the food trade, the CFS launched a designated webpage for the Reduction of Dietary Sodium and Sugars. CFS also launched a new Facebook page designated for the theme of "Hong Kong's Action on Salt and Sugars Reduction". The Facebook page is intended to provide information on salt and sugars reduction for internet users.

Focus Group Meeting on Members' View on Risk Perception on Different Food Hazards

The above meeting was held on 28 November 2014 at the CRU of CFS to seek members' views on the risk perception on different food hazards. After the meeting, CLG members visited Hong Kong Yakult Co. Ltd. in Tai Po Industrial Estate to learn more about the manufacturing process of beverages. A summary of the discussions has been published on the sixth issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

Response
Members' views on the risk perception on different food hazards were well noted. The Centre for Food Safety will take into account the information collected in planning the activities and programmes in the future.

Proposed Regulation on the Nutrition and Health Claims on Formula Products and Foods for Infant and Young Children

The above meeting was held on 3 February 2015 at the Communication Resource Unit (CRU) of Centre for Food Safety (CFS) to explore members' opinion on the proposed regulation. A summary of the discussions has been published on the seventh issue of the Consumer Liaison Group Newsletter.

The views and opinions of member were noted. Stakeholders would further be consulted before finalising position in law drafting process.
