Reason For Issuing Alert

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) has received notification from the US authorities that the affected products are suspected to contain Salmonella. The CFS learnt from the trade that the affected products had been imported to Hong Kong.

Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety

The CFS after investigations learnt that the importer had recalled the affected products and retail outlets concerned had stopped sale of the affected products. The importer has also agreed to surrender all remaining stocks for disposal.

The CFS is conducting checks at other local outlets and so far no affected products have been found available for sale.

The CFS will continue liaising with the US authorities and follow up on the incident.

Stop selling the affected product.

Advice to Consumers

Not to consume the affected product.

Consumers should seek medical treatment if they feel unwell after consuming the affected product.

Salmonella infection may cause fever and gastrointestinal upset such as vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. The effects on people with lowered immunity such as infants and young children could be more severe and sometimes may even lead to death.
