Reason For Issuing Alert

Test result indicated that sample of the product contained di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) at a level of 2.9 ppm. DEHP is a plasticiser and has been found to cause damages to liver, kidney, reproduction and development when given to animals in large doses.

Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety

The CFS has ordered the trade be prohibited, from noon June 22, import and supply of the concerned drink product, and complete the recall within 30 days.

The CFS has informed the Mainland authority of the test result for appropriate follow-up actions.
