- The CFS received a notice from a local food distributor that the above batch of the product concerned was under voluntary recall.
- Staff of the CFS has visited the warehouse concerned and conducted inspection.
- The Food and Drugs (Composition and Labelling) Regulations (Cap. 132W) require that all prepackaged food for sale in Hong Kong should be marked and labelled in the manner prescribed in the relevant Schedules. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $50,000 and six months' imprisonment.
- The CFS is tracing the distribution of the food in question so as to safeguard public health.
- The CFS will inform the trade, continue to follow up and take necessary action. Investigation is ongoing.
