  1. Based on the level of cadmium detected in the sample, adverse health effects would not be caused under usual consumption.

  2. Traders should ensure that the foods they sell or import are fit for human consumption and comply with legal standards. Consumers are advised to take a balanced diet so as to avoid excessive exposure to certain chemicals or contaminants from a small range of food items.

  3. Any person who imports, manufactures or sells any food not in compliance with the requirements of the Food Adulteration (Metallic Contamination) Regulations (Cap 132V) concerning pesticide residues commits an offence and is liable to a maximum fine of $50,000 and to imprisonment for six months upon conviction.

  4. The CFS has informed the importer concerned of the irregularity and The CFS will continue to follow up on the incident and take appropriate action.

  5. Investigation is ongoing.
