Latest test results on melamine

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (October 31) released the latest batch of results of melamine tests.

The results showed that all 64 samples tested were satisfactory. These included milk and milk powder, baby food, eggs and instant drink mixes.

"As at today, we have tested 129 egg samples, among which 82 are from the Mainland. A total of 126 have been found satisfactory. We have completed the sampling of Mainland eggs from existing stocks at the egg laans in the two Wholesale Food Markets, importers and the cold stores. We would continue to take samples of Mainland eggs from consignments at import level. The trade, in purchasing poultry eggs, is advised to make reference to CFS's test results. Test results for milk and milk powder, infant formula, baby food, eggs and flour will be available tomorrow," a spokesman for the CFS said.

Information on the test results can be found on the CFS's website, www.cfs.gov.hk. People can also call the CFS's enquiry number 2381 6096 which operates from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
