On 9th May 2024, the World Organisation for Animal Health has received a report from United Kingdom about a confirmed classical case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE, also known as "Mad Cow Disease") detected in cattle in Ayrshire, Scotland.  No part of the animal's carcass entered the human food or animal feed systems.
