Reason For Issuing Alert

The U.S.FDA has issued a notification concerning a recall of the above products initiated by the Plum Organics after it received complaints from consumers, including reports of injuries caused by choking, after consuming the above mentioned products.

The affected products are in bite-sized snack pieces which are claimed to be able to soften in mouth in a short while and fit for infants’ and young children’s consumption. However, the products of the affected batches failed to soften in time in a child’s mouth and created a potential choking hazard and thus need to be recalled.

Action Taken by the Centre for Food Safety

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) will alert the trade about the incident and appeal to them to stop selling the products of the affected batches.

Advice to the Trade

Stop selling the products of the affected batches.

Advice to Consumers

Not to feed the products concerned to infants or young children who are not ready for solid foods.
