Caution on soluble coffee in jars susceptible to breakage (with photo)

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (May 20) advised the public not to drink five soluble coffee products imported by Nestle HK Limited. They are contained in glass jars with plastic sleeves, some are susceptible to breakage during delivery to retail outlets.

Nestle is recalling all batches of the affected products, namely "CAP COLOMBIE" (100g), "ALTA RICA DECAFF" (100g), "SURAYA" (100g), "ESPRESSO" (100g) and "ALTA RICA" (100g).

Nestle informed the CFS today that a small quantity of the affected products had been imported to Hong Kong for sale. The CFS appealed to the trade to stop selling the products.

"If consumers have bought any of the affected products, they should not consume them," a CFS spokesman said. Consumers can call the company's hotline: 2179 8888 for enquiries.

"We have alerted the trade about the incident, and are monitoring the situation," the spokesman said.
