Food alert on three products

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (November 14) advised people not to eat two types of sweets, manufactured by Morinaga & Co., Ltd. in Japan, due to possible contamination with small plastic glove pieces.

The company concerned is recalling the products. Details are as follows:

"According to information provided by the local distributor, the affected products have been imported to Hong Kong," a CFS spokesman said.

In another development, the UK authorities have alerted consumers not to consume certain batches of butter as they might contain plastic pieces. Details of the affected products are as follows:

Product name: Country Life Spreadable
Pack sizes:  250g and 500g
Batch codes:8285 and 8286
Use by:December 20, 2008 and December 21, 2008

"We advise people not to eat the affected products. The Centre has alerted the trade to stop selling them and will closely monitor the situation," the spokesman said.
