The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (August 15) advised people not to consume certain batches of Bovril Beef Extract suspected to be contaminated with Salmonella.

According to the United Kingdom authorities, the company concerned, Unilever UK, is recalling the affected products, details of which are as follows:

Best before: end January 2010
Batch codes: L8201XX795, L8206XX795, L8207XX795 and L8208XX795

2. Product weight: 600 grammes (plastic tub)

"Retailers should also stop selling these particular products," a CFS spokesman said.
