Warning on yoghurt products with the presence of plastic film

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) today (August 9) advised people not to eat five types of yoghurt products, all manufactured by National Foods in Australia, due to the presence of plastic film which may pose a choking hazard, especially to small children.

The company concerned has announced immediate recall of the affected products, details of which are as follows:

Yoplait Go-Gurt Spiders - Pack of 8 x 70g
Yoplait Go-Gurt Strawberry and Fruit Salad - Pack of 8 x 70g
Yoplait Go-Gurt Raspberry and Apricot - Pack of 8 x 70g

Yoplait Smackers

Best before dates - all dates up to and including September 27, 2008
Yoplait Smackers Strawberry - Pack of 8 x 70g
Yoplait Smackers Peach and Pineapple - Pack of 8 x 70g

"Retailers should also stop selling these particular products," a CFS spokesman said.

"The CFS will contact the relevant Australian authorities for further information. It has informed the trade of the incident and will closely monitor the situation," he said.
